Ordered this for my Brother HL-2040. It was about half the size needed to fit the printer. Try other sources.

I’ll never buy another product of Brother again. After 2 fax machines and now this laser printer, I’m convinced that they don’t care much about the quality of their products. What’s wrong with my Brother HL-2040 laser printer?

1) Every time I turn on the printer, it would send out a big electrical surge (I actually had to upgrade my surge protectors to minimize this damaging surge!).

2) After a couple printouts, the paper loading mechanism no longer work correctly; prints from the paper tray would be “tilted” and the margins around the text became vastly inconsistent (I have to feed the paper one at a time through the front slot in order to get straight margins).

3) There’re severl unexpected “dots” printed on the papers. No matter how I clean the interior of the printer or adjust the cartridge, they simply won’t go away. It’s kind of like the dots you get from a poor ink-jet printer.

A toner cartridge is just a piece of plastic filled with polyester powder, so you can’t expect this thing to cure cancer, do your dishes or get your kids to take an interest in the magical world of reading books but you CAN exepct it to be deposited on the page by electrostatic action and then heat-fused to produce dots of varying shade of gray. It does this well.

But you can’t use the toner as a pepper substitute and you can’t use the cartridge in place of a secret ninja scroll filled with techniques for focusing the ki that has been passed down from 1000 years ago.

So don’t expect too much beyond making prints and you won’t be disappointed.

It seems that a lot of people here are reviewing the SELLER and not the product – and reviews of all the SELLERS are mish-mashed into this area. That makes NO SENSE!

The second thing that makes NO SENSE is writing a product reviews of a toner cartridge that you either need for your machine or you don’t. (Unless, of course, it is a review of a REFURBISHED cartridge.)

I sure wish Amazon would somehow make this more SENSIBLE!

By the way, I bought a new cartridge from Amazon – it was great, a great value, and Amazon shipped it fast. Don’t buy ‘em from anyone else!
